Welcome to RITC 2020!
As participants for this year's competition, this area of the website is dedicated to you and your needs. We hope you find it informative and we look forward to seeing you in February.
If you need a visa to come to Canada, it is strongly recommended that you read the section "International Competitors - Visa" below.
Canada's visa laws have been undergoing changes in recent years, making the process to acquire a VISA longer than in the past. It is each individual competitor's responsibility to inquire if they need a visa to enter Canada, and to apply for one if necessary. Click here to find out if you need a visa. It is also recommended that all competitors from outside of Canada purchase travel health insurance.
It can take up to six weeks to receive a visa, please apply as soon as you can.
RITC is a professional business competition, so participants are expected to dress in either business casual or business formal attire. The exception is for the Quantitative Outcry case where competitors wear distinguishing clothing or uniforms (such as noticeable hats, jerseys, or trading jackets) in order to more easily distinguish team members in the trading pit.
Please note, that the average temperature in Toronto in February is -8 degrees Celsius (15 degrees Fahrenheit). We suggest that you bring appropriate winter clothing, and that you check the weather forecasts before you pack for the competition.

Position: RITC Volunteer
Location of Work: Rotman School of Management
For RITC, we are looking for 25 volunteers to assist with logistical preparation for the competition, as well as assisting international student teams attending RITC. Tasks during the competition involve helping the BMO Financial Group Finance Researching and Trading Lab staff run cases as well as assisting teams, answering common questions, ensuring your teams know where to go, and to ensure that the teams enjoy their competition/trip experience. Volunteers will also help with planning and preparation in the week leading up to the competition. This preparation includes tasks such as nametags, information booklets, sponsor swag bags, etc.
For a volunteer, this would be an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab. Further, volunteers have the opportunity to meet and network with students, professors, and sponsors worldwide. As most lab staff will be running cases behind the scenes, the volunteers we hire will be representing Rotman to almost 400 international representatives.
The Rotman International Trading Competition (RITC) is an annual event held in the heart of Canada's financial district, downtown Toronto. Hosted by the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the competition brings teams of students and faculty from universities worldwide to participate in a unique 3 day conference. RITC utilizes simulated trading cases that closely mimic different aspects of real world markets. Having developed these cases in the state of the art Financial Research and Trading Lab, RITC promises to present teams with challenges that are pertinent to current market trends. While past competitions have been very successful, we continue to improve on the old cases and introduce new ones.
For more information regarding the competition, refer to Rotman International Trading Competition webpage
Qualifications: Students who apply for this position should be University of Toronto students interested in the field of finance, but do not necessarily need to be in finance as a Rotman Commerce student. We are looking for friendly, social and enthusiastic students who can assist in providing an exciting and enjoyable experience for all the competitors. Students should be available during reading week for this opportunity.
Targeted Years: All years
Application Requirement: Cover letter and Single Page Resume (Note: Please include any and all experience with the BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab in your resume).
Application Instructions: Please e-mail your cover letter and resume as one document in PDF format to firstname.lastname@example.org. Subject of email and file name: "RITC 2020 Volunteer – your name".
Application Deadline: Friday, January 24th, 2020 at 9:00AM (Interviews will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, Thursday, January 30th, or Friday, January 31st.)
